One Thimble Magazine was created by Jen Fox in 2013 and is released every 4 months with each issue containing inspiring sewing patterns, tutorials and articles to take your confidence and skill to the next level.
I had the pleasure of photographing some of the amazing designs from the latest issue, Issue #16 which will be released tomorrow at approximately 7am Australian Eastern Standard Time.
This issue has an ‘Under the Sea’ theme and let me tell you it is jam packed with goodies galore that will have you dying to fire up the machine and dreaming of Summer.
In this Spring issue you will find patterns for girls, boys, woman and plenty of Under Water inspired costumes too.
To be honest I can’t pick a favourite item but I can tell there’s going to be little people everywhere demanding these ‘Melody Tails’ designed by Lauren of Molly and Mama. Lauren is definitely one to watch and also has a new book releasing October 1st of this year.
And seriously how sweet is the little banner ‘Meg is a Mermaid’ free motion applique by Inkling Threads that can be applied to clothing or as pictured a super sweet banner for your little one’s room.
I have to admit I am usually taken by things with a little more fuss when it comes to dressing Elsie (especially for special occasions) but the Hally Dress by Ainslee Fox is simply stunning in it’s simplicity, and no word of a lie, is now one of my favourite dresses I have ever put on Elsie.
The dropped waist with a generous flourish of skirt just above the knee, that’s perfection right there if you ask me!
And the super sweet details I haven’t seen anywhere else before are completely understated whist still making a statement.
Bring on the sunny weather for this one!
And last but not least some fantastic patterns for the boys too, who let’s be honest get left out a bit in the handmade department.
The Triton Tank designed by Ainslee Fox with ‘Murray The Merman’ free motion applique pattern by Inkling Threads is super fun and I think any little guy would wanna hang with Murray on a Summer’s day.
Michael is also wearing the ‘High Tide Trousers’ by Made by Jack’s Mum and are perfect for your little adventurer with a comfy elastic wasit , relaxed fit…and
a button tab which allows them to be converted to shorts…which in true me fashion I didn’t realise til after I took this shot. Haha!
So after all those goodies can you believe there’s more!!! Yup that’s right, there’s actually 11 PDF patterns within the issue and 26 sewing articles. You can take a sneak peek here to see more.
This is a really awesome issue and I am excited to see these patterns popping up everywhere and if you are a pattern maker yourself you can sign up here to be sent a pattern pitch kit and maybe one of your wonderful designs could be featured next issue.
